Trabzon Accounts for 39% of Turkey’s Hazelnut Exports
Trabzon, a province in Turkey, has played a significant role in the country’s hazelnut exports. According to the statistics released by the Black Sea Exporters Association, Trabzon-based companies accounted for 39% of Turkey’s total hazelnut exports, amounting to 262,710 tons in the past 10 months.
During this period, the total value of hazelnut exports reached $1,581,247,000.
Sabahaddin Türk, the Vice Chairman of the Hazelnut and Hazelnut Products Section Committee at the Black Sea Exporters Association, commented on these figures, stating that hazelnuts were exported to 119 countries worldwide.
Highlighting Germany, Italy, and France as the leading importers of Turkish hazelnuts, Türk mentioned that between January and June, 132,427 tons of hazelnuts were exported, generating an income of $841,832,000.
He added that in the first six months of the year, 50,170 tons of hazelnuts were exported, equivalent to $318,342,000 in revenue on an annual basis.
